Abstract The frequency at which new psychiatric disorder ensue traumatic brain injuries is too common to be disregarded. The brain in and of itself is the most baffling element of human body and research into the correlation between traumatic brain injuries and the development of psychiatric disorders will be imperative in order to provided proper and accurate treatment to patients. Moreover, understanding the correlation between traumatic brain injuries and the development of psychiatric disorders may perhaps offer a substantially greater understanding of not only the brain but of the manifestations and treatments of traumatic brain injuries and psychiatric disorders themselves. A traumatic brain injury, often referred to as TBI, occurs when an acute, intense amount of force from outside the cranium causes a traumatic injury to the brain. Traumatic brain injuries pose potentially unlimited post-trauma hurdles and impediments to both the patient and their family. One of the more difficult potential impediments to be faced in the wake of a traumatic brain injury is the development of a new psychiatric disorder.
